I've seen several in the day. They look ok. If clean and with some RWL on the tires, I think they look pretty sharp.

uncle don thats just what a lot of us young dudes like lol i always seen them on g bodies and some b bodies.. they complement the rallys and give you something to shine instead of a black tire or white wall. they also look better with rallys on a g body...

15 X 7 gold SSIIIs are the way to go and look great with a white body, just Google "white 1985 442" and the like.

Second choice is white, which on a nice, clean lined car is down right beautiful.

Personally on my cutty i have the white letters, It gives it more of a sporty look IMO. I own 2 late 80's accords , one i have letters and the other i don't but one car is gold and the other is black so it depends of what look you are going for. I think its combination of personal preference and if it works with the car.

As Far as colors for the rally's on a white car i can think of a few colors that would work nicely with all the trim installed. I prefer a stock like look, as if it came from the factory that way so my opinion may be a bit different than others.

obviously white looks good
gun metal
black
dark navy blue (would make sense if you have the blue interior)
gold ( make it look kinda like the SS3's)
Simulated Chrome / silver
if you have a soft top like mine you could go with a similar color
really anything that is a complementing contrasting color would work to make them stand out a bit.

I did get some information from another olds friend who lived down the road about the chrome paint. Ive been leery on this as i have not had luck with similar products in the past.

I was referred to this company for detail paints

Just remember back space is important. Some 15 X 7s and 14 X 7 s are 4.5 inch backspace ? and that is deep on a G-Body.

You need to stay around a 4 inch backspace if you want some meat on the wheels.

I will be straight up honest a G-Body looks better with 15 X 7 wheels but obviously will work/look decent with 14 X 6 as that's what they often came with. However on 14 X 6 wide tire options are very limited.

As not to worry about fitment issues you need to look for G-Body 1983-1988 SS wheels. Otherwise you may need to play with spacers, etc. Or just measure on the spot and then decide what direction to go in.
