Sounds like fuel psi is to high get a reading on what your fuel PSI is when you are doing that. or all so make sure you float is set right.

I agree....sounds like float issue, or fuel pressure. Since you've tried other carbs, I'm leaning toward fuel pressure being too high. Get a gauge on there.

X3 on fule supply sounds like high line presure. What do you have for a pump? If you are using hp pump you will need a regulator.

Check the timing while you are at it.

Good point Run to Rund. Yes check your timing. What dist do you have and what have you done to it. When you have a problem like this you should go back and check out your whole ignition system and fule system.

Is that a after market off shore unit from China. I would start there if it is not a quality dist.

HEI with 12º initial advance? That sound very low unless there is a recurve kit in it.
I would suggest you verify that total timing number before you go any further. The numbers just don't seem right for an HEI, with or without a recurve kit.

My stock weight HEI, I have 15 base and 36 total. I have one light, one medium spring. The other Autolite reman HEI has weird big weights and 23 base is needed to get 36 total. They do vary. Get your timing set where it needs to be and #86 Autolite plugs should be what you need.
