Default Water Pump NPT Plug????

What size NPT Plug do i get to plug my water pump at the top where the heater hose goes in?

Well, you'll have to have it tapped for a NPT fitting first. So whatever you tap it to will be the size of plug you'll need.

Just guessing looking at my water pump it would need to be a 3/8" NPT at the very least.

Have you thought about just buying a rubber cap and using a hose clamp instead?

I was thinking 1/2", but you can determine that.

I use a freeze plug. The casting is thin behind the hose fitting, I worried about the metal cracking when I ran a tap thru it.

Some pumps take 3/8 NPT and others take 1/2 NPT. I have tapped both sizes on different pumps. the only difficulty is removing the pressed in hose fitting. I usually weld a nut to it and use a slide hammer to pull it.
