Default rims for my cutlass !!!!

does any one have any idea on what the back spacing is and the bolt pattern and if theres an offset so i can determine what rims i should get for my 86 cutlass supreme ... im look at these cragars on jegs.com .. p/n- 260-365-5712 thats just a random set of wheels but im prolly looking to get like 16 or 17 in the rear and 15 up front .. give it a lil better stance the fronts will only be a inch smaller then the rears so if i go 17 ill have 16 up front an so forth but i need to kno the back spacing and all that good stuff before i buy them so i know im getting a wheel that will botl righ on no problem ..

Bolt pattern is 5 on 4 3/4"(5 lugs on a 4 3/4" bolt circle).

Cant help you with backspacing recommendations, Ive only owned early A-Bodies.

G-body factory rims were 14x5, with 3.5" backspacing. 15x7 with 4.5" backspacing

well i have the stock 14 '' mags on them so im assuming its 14x5 with 3.5'' back spacng .. ? correct ? whats the 15x7 ? another option for gobdys or is that the max i can put on it .. also the rims i found that i want they dont sell in a 5x4 3/4 bolt pattern only 5 x 5.0 or 5x4.50 .. will those work or does it have to be exactly 5x4 3/4 ( 4.75 )

it has to be 5x4.75 this is a real common pattern found on cutlass, camaro, firebird, s10, and more so pretty much any rim can be had in this pattern

i got 17 x 8 with 3.5 backspace and 245/45/17 on all 4 corners with no rub on my SS. some people with cutlass reported some rub on the fender chrome trim with this set up.

I thought the 14's are 6" wide? I know they're 3.5" backspacing, I did put a tape measure on them (actually a couple of framing squares) to get the backspacing on my 14's. A five inch rim width would help better explain why my 225/70's look like baloons.

They should actually be 14x6" not 5". Mine are stamped on the inside rim what size they are.

so you guys are right ...sorry I got that info off a wheel co's site. I thumb through my GM parts manual does indeed say 14"x6". I still swear my aluminum rims look narrower, but they are like 40 miles away.

You could do a bigger wheel on the back it would look good, I personally would just stay about 16". There are a lot better tire choices for 16, 17, and 18 inch wheels than there is for 14s and 15s.

16" wheel tire choices are getting more scarce. If your wanting large rims, I wouldn't go with anything less than 17". If you want to stay with the old school look, stick with 15" wheels.

Something else you need to consider is that your not going to be able to rotate your wheels/tires if you do the staggered wheel/tire size thing. If its a daily driver that could get expensive.
On my '87 I had 17x8" wheels with 245/45ZR17 tires in the front and 255/45ZR17 tires in the rear. But then it wasn't my daily driver either. If I was doing that to something I wanted to be able to rotate the tires on, I would have just stuck with the 245's all around.

I like the Torqlite's I had on my car ( the ones in my sig ). They were cheap, good quality, and came in 15x7 with 4 in backspacing which is the stock size for my car. Run a 235/60/15 tire and it's the same hieght as the stock wheel/tire combo too.
