Ways to add pictures to posts
Method 1;
Alright, here is a sort of step by step I'll post comments after the picture to help you understand where I'm going with it.
 Click manage attachments
 Click browse
 now desired picture and open
 now upload
 close the window
 right click the attachment link then click copy shortcut
 click to insert image
 right click in the box then paste
 click ok
 here is a finished result

Method 2; Contributed by Mechacode
go to www.imageshack.us
Click "browse", find picture to upload. Select file. Click "host it". After it uploads, a page will load with links on it. Find the box with a link in it that has "direct link to image" printed next to said box. Copy the url out of that box, open the text box (click reply or new topic) and paste the url into it. Then you add image tags to it.
The tags look like this:
The url goes in between those two tags.

NOTE:
using "Manage Attachments" has limitations
since you are actually uploading the data to the OP server, they have been limited to size..
I think there is a max of 100kb per attachment.. note that you wont be able to upload huge images to OP. More than likely you will need to find a different host and use the image button to create a viewable link

Thanks for taking the time to do this. Although I already knew about this, I am sure many a newbie to forums will find it mightily helpful. I appreciate the time you spent putting this together.

Great tutorial, MikeB It might seem like the simplest thing to us forum whores, but for lots of older guys who didn't get a chance to grow up using computers it doesn't come as natural.
Let me add to this, the last way to "add" pics to a thread. You can normally add pics from almost any other website (that does not block hot-linking) without having to upload the picture to oldspower or a third-party hosting site like image shack.
If it allows you to just right click on any picture you're looking at in your browser, and go to the bottom, properties.
In the field that says "address" highlight the entire picture address by clicking and dragging over it with the left mouse button. Then right click on that highlighted address and choose "copy" or you can press control+c to do that part as well.
Now you have the picture location saved in your computer's short term memory. Now when you are composing your new post, just add an image and paste the text in as MikeB already showed you.
This is how I "post" almost all the pics I post on the post whore picture thread.

When you click post reply or post new thread you will see the main text area then a little further down the page you will see it.
