Default 8.5" 3.73:1 rear axle

I need to replace the driver's side axle in the '87 442 rear I have in the '88 H/O. It has a slightly bent axle flange evident when the car is on a lift and the car is run in gear (flange has a wobble to it). Mark Davis got the rear for me back a few years ago out of a roll over wrecked '87 442. We didn't know it at the time, but it was probably bent in the wreck.

Any advice on what to do about this?

get an axle (you might find one used on turbobuick), pull cover, crosspin, C-clip, slide out, slide new one in, seal 'er up.

Actually, with the torque you have, I'd put a set of 28 spline Mosers back there. No sense in putting a tire through your freshly painted quarter.

Are they already 28 spline? If so, you are probably right. If I ever get it to hook, something is gonna break...

yeah, 28 spline. I just went to 30 spline in mine and put in a new eaton carrier as well.

Joe, Funny, I had the same issue with my 8.5 rear. Pulled it out of that 86 442 and noticed that the flange had a slight wobble on the drivers side.

Replaced it with a set of used axles a guy local to me had from his 26k mile GN. I still have the other axle, but shipping would be a pain.
