So I hear that i need to relocate my brake distribution block if im going to be running full length headers in my 72 cutlass s for clearance, im new to alot of this and am not sure how i should go about doing this, can i use the same lines, where is the best place to move it? i really hope i just need to unbolt it and move it to the bottom of the frame rail and without buy new lines and stuff, anyone got any pics, or good how to info?

thanks Gary:banghead:

You need to move the distribution block only if you have a big block and headers. If you have a small block you can leave it alone.

If you have a big block, just unbolt the distribution block and move it from where it is on the side of the frame to the top of the frame.

71cutlass is absolutely correct.I thought i was going to have to do the same thing when I installed my headers on my 72 cutlass with my 350.I didn't even have to touch it.

I have a 72 cutlass with a 455/th350 swapped into it, would I have to move the distribution block? If so, what parts would have to be purchased just to make it work?

I had to bend the block slightly out of the way on my 65 with the 330. But I have BB headers.

Now when I think about it, I just had to bend the lines a little. I didn't move the block.

Man your car looks sweet!

I really hope I dont have to move anything, dont wanna get stuck bending brake lines etc... :banghead:

Isnt a 330 a small block?? I have 455 BIGBLOCK...

Thanks! A 330 is definitely a small block, I'm running BB headers because there are no SB headers that fit the early cutlasses (64-67).

unbolt it and move it to the top of the frame rail. i don't remember buying anything extra for this mod. there should be enough slack in the brake lines to flex them into place. there is no need to bolt it back down to the frame rails the lines will hold it in place.

I will try that, however I am not so sure this will work because the one line that goes to the r/f wheel doesnt give much slack, its the one that gets fastened to the front subframe or whatever you call it, if I unfasten it then maybe...

I used the threaded bolt hole for the clutch pivot to hold the distrubution block (didnt need it, my car is a automatic). I think I was able to bend the brake lines to get everything to fit. I could be wrong, Ive slept a lot since then. Even if you have to make new lines, its not that big a deal. Just make sure you put the fitting on BEFORE you flare the line!

I have a 350 with headers. Just check your clearance between the brake line running behind the engine cradle & the header, on the drivers side. My brake line shows signs the two have met & probably should be replaced..
